How to use the calendar

• The series label is the futures month the option is written on. For currencies and indices the series expires in the labeled month; for gold, silver, copper, oil and gas it expires earlier: for example the gold NOV26 series expires in October. Go by the date, not the label.
• The "Series open interest" column is the sum of open calls and puts. It shows which series is the main one right now: before expiration the nearest series' open interest moves to the next.
• In the indicator you pick the series with the arrows in the "Contract" row, with days to expiration shown next to it. The vertical expiration-day line is switched on under the "Other" tab.
• The calendar shows monthly series: they carry the bulk of open interest. Weekly series (Mon–Thu and Friday) exist only for some instruments; the indicator shows their dates in the series navigator.
